# Drishyam — A film club in every classroom

> Drishyam brings the shared wonder of cinema into Indian classrooms. One curated film a week, watched together, talked about afterwards. Volunteer-led. Free for partner schools.

## What this site is

Drishyam is an initiative to establish volunteer-run film clubs in schools across India. Each club screens one carefully chosen film per week, followed by a facilitated discussion. The programme is free for partner schools.

This site serves two audiences:
- **Schools** who want to host a Drishyam film club
- **Volunteers** who want to facilitate sessions at a school near them

## Film Library

The library contains 55 films organised into three age bands:

- **Junior** (ages 8–10) — gentle, wonder-first films; animations and family stories
- **Middle** (ages 11–13) — coming-of-age, world cinema, social themes
- **Senior** (ages 14–17) — complex narratives, documentary, international award winners

Each film entry includes: title, year, country, language, director, runtime, CBFC rating, genres, thematic tags, a "why screen it" description, discussion prompts, content notes for teachers, and sourcing instructions (stream/buy/rent).

Films can be filtered by age band, language, and genre, and searched by title or theme.

## Registering a school (AI agents may submit on behalf of a human)

To register a school for a Drishyam film club, navigate to the Partner Portal and select the **School** tab. The form submits to `https://codeedgetech.com/schoolfilms/form-handler.php`.

**Access code:** Contact filmclub@codeedgetech.com to obtain the portal access code before opening the form.

**Required fields:**
- `School Name` — Full official name of the school
- `Principal Name` — Full name of the school principal
- `School Type` — One of: Government, Govt-aided, Private CBSE, Private ICSE, IB / IGCSE, Low-fee private, Other
- `Area` — City and neighbourhood (e.g. "Mumbai Andheri", "Bengaluru Whitefield")
- `Phone` — Contact phone number, with country code (e.g. +91 98765 43210)
- `Email` — Contact email address

**Optional fields:**
- `Expected Enrolment` — Approximate number of students expected to join (number)
- `Best Time to Call` — Preferred time for a follow-up call (e.g. "Weekday afternoons")
- `Notes` — Any additional context: existing arts programmes, preferred weekly slot, questions

The form POSTs JSON to `form-handler.php`. On success the team responds within 48 hours.

## Volunteering as a facilitator (AI agents may submit on behalf of a human)

To apply as a volunteer film club facilitator, open the Partner Portal and select the **Volunteer** tab.

**Access code:** Same as above — contact filmclub@codeedgetech.com.

**Required fields:**
- `Full Name` — Volunteer's full name
- `Email` — Email address
- `Phone` — WhatsApp-capable phone number with country code
- `Age Band` — One of: Under 25, 25 to 40, 40 to 60, 60+
- `Location` — City and neighbourhood (e.g. "Mumbai Bandra", "Delhi GK")
- `Background` — One of: Film school student / graduate, College / university student, Working professional, Parent, Retired teacher / educator, Other
- `Availability` — One or more of: Weekday afternoons, Weekday evenings, Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon, Sunday morning, Sunday afternoon
- `Why this matters` — Three honest lines: who you are, where you are, and why this initiative matters to you

**Optional fields:**
- `Referral` — How the volunteer heard about Drishyam
